Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, Nancy began her career as a singer at the young age of 15. She collaborated with renowned musicians like Michael Camilo and on to become the soloist of the popular group “Barroco 21”. She has produced and starred in many plays and was awarded the highest honors for her work.
Nancy went on to produce and host her own television shows, “Solo Para Adultos” (For Adults Only) and “Nancy” that focused on adult educational topics. This made her very popular and controversial becoming known as the “Latin Doctor Ruth”. In her daily newspaper column “Consultando con Nancy” (Consulting with Nancy), she would offer advice to those who wanted to know but where afraid to ask. It became so popular it was compiled into a book and published.
After many years on television, Dr. Nancy began to appear as a special guest on Hispanic television and radio programs in the United States, such as “The Pedro Sevcec Show” and “The Padre Alberto Show”. Her overwhelming success gained the attention of Don Francisco, host of “Sabado Gigante”. After many appearances on Don Francisco’s show, she became a regular on Univision shows such as “Despierta America” (Wake Up America) and “Marta Susana.”
Dr. Nancy’s success in the United States had resulted in the creation of her own television show: “Quien Tiene La Razon” (Who’s Wrong, Who’s Right?) which aired for six years achieving the highest ratings in Telefutura’s history. It is the only show of it’s kind in Hispanic television where it combines the structure of a Talk show with audience participation, panel discussions and courtroom style verdicts rendered by Dr. Nancy. Nancy’s sole purpose and vision is to educate with conviction while engaging her sharp wit in an approachable style she is now synonymous for.
In 2008, Nancy’s vision paid off with the landmark move making this the first show to ever to step up from Telefutura to Univision. The show was moved to a new time of 10am on Univision, from 3pm on Telefutura, where the beloved Dr. Nancy continues to have the highest ratings until 6pm everyday. The show remains immensely popular in the United States and Latin America.
In addition to sweeping daytime television, Nancy also produced and starred in the sold out stage shows; “Todo Sobre el Amor” (Everything About Love) and “Solo Para Hombres...y tambien para Mujeres” (For Men Only...and Women too).
Nancy remains a regular columnist for various newspapers and magazines in the United States and Latin America. Her book “Para Hacer que el Amor Funcione” (How to Make Love Work) is scheduled for publication in 2011.
In the Fall of 2010, Dr. Nancy has embarked on her most exciting venture to date, the airing of her second daily show on Univision with the prime 10:00 pm timeslot. This show will enable Nancy to follow her heart and vision for a new era of evening talk show entertainment. Nancy has also won vast syndication for her upcoming radio show to be aired throughout the United States and Latin America in early 2011.
As one of the world’s foremost expert in the human condition, Nancy enjoys international prestige and recognition expressed in the thousands of testimonials from people who have benefited from her counseling. She considers this to be her greatest reward.
